How are you?

So, hey, it looks a bit like you've got something to do with the air force...

So, I'm dying to get my private pilot's license, and I was thinking of trying to get into the Air Force pilots (What is that called? The Pilot wing? Air service?). I'm doing a little bit of research to see the best bet of getting in, and not, you know, becoming an infantryman guarding some airbase in Turkey, instead of flying Raptors or Hornets.

Where are you in that process and how did you get there? Are my odds good, going to BYU-Provo, getting an ME (Mechanical Engineering) degree, having a private pilot's license and joining the AFROTC in my second year?

And what all does it entail?

I think I want to be an aerospace engineer, but I'll be darned if I don't get giddy just seeing an aircraft of ANY kind, nevermind a fighter jet. If I don't become an Air Force pilot at some point in my life I might spend my life regretting it. Though I also worry that if I DO join, I might come to regret not picking a more laid-back lifestyle where I get to decide where I live, etc...
